Recently, an Iranian government took a right decision in hanging the rapists in public to teach others a lesson who might be contemplating repeating the same mistake.  It is very important for the judicial system to enforce severe punishment for this type of heinous crimes.  A country can fall if societal problems are not handled at the outset with heavy handed.  What happened in India recently - a Delhi gang raped incident - deserves the same treatment.  India ought to learn a lesson from the decision of an Iranian government and bring those culprits to books without wasting too much time.  Yes, the victim is being treated in Singapore, but the Indian government does not have to wait for her release from the Elizabeth Hospital before the culprits are punished.  This is the right opportunity to quiet the protesters and establish a guideline for the future criminals.  Those culprits should be hanged in public without any hesitation.  Yes, it sounds cruel, but that is the only way to save the fabric of a civilized society.  IS THERE ANY LEADER IN INDIA WILLING TO MAKE A LAW 'HANG TILL DEATH' FOR THE RAPISTS?

The comments made by the CEO of NRA the other day sounded so baseless, foolish and selfish that makes one wonder the height of stupidity.  He suggested to depute police officer in each school to control the loss of innocent lives in this country.  However, he is forgetting that like schools, there are so many other soft targets where these crazy fellows with an access to guns can create mayhem at random.  How many other soft targets this CEO has in mind to protect by deputing police officers?  It serves no purpose to list all those instances where innocent lives were lost due to an easy access to guns.  People die in this country every day due to an easy availability of guns.  When he suggests to depute police officer at each school, is he trying to sell more guns?  To overcome this issue, the only answer is to ban guns.  Majority of people in this country understand the importance of pursuing what the forefathers have written in the Constitution.  However, firstly the timings when the Constitution was written were different- not too much crazyness and societal problems existed in this country and secondly, the economic structure and family values had different setting.  May be it is an appropriate time to look into the Provisions of our Constitution.  If people keep killing others at random and the country goes astray, what good is that piece of paper?  Another sad story is that this CEO has started a campaign to deport Piers Morgan of CNN because he on his show emphasized control of guns.  How stupid this campaign is?  This writer is a firm believer of banning all sorts of guns in this country.  Guns ought to be only in the hands of Government officials who are supposed to protect the citizens and no one else.  Private individuals do not need guns.  We understand the lobbying of NRA.  But those who are receiving bribes from NRA might one day become victim of these same guns they are supporting to sell.
IT MAY BE TOO LATE THEN - JUST THINK GUYS.

Discussing the issue of Mumbai attack with Pakistan with the hope that the culprits will be punished is a waste of time for the simple reason that Pakistan cann't punish its own established jihadis whom they use against India.  Instead India needs to be firm in dealing with Pakistan whether it is an issuance of visa, business or other issues at the United Nations.  Pakistan does not deserve to be treated with friendly gloves.  Pakistan is sounding little bit amenable in its rhetoric due to its deteriorating fiscal and overall weaker position in the world forums.  As far as Kashmir issue is concerned, it is an excuse on the part of Pakistani government to divert the attention of Pakistanis from its dismal economic picture and also to appease the Jihadi establishments.  We know that even the Kashmiris in  the POK area have expressed their opinion against becoming part of Pakistan.  We also know that Pakistan cannot control the existing territory, then one wonders the rationale of aspiring to acquire new lands.  Baluchis do not want to be part of Pakistan, Sindhis and other minority communities would like to migrate to some other destinations at heartbeat, Karachi is burning on a daily basis- thanks to Jihadis, there is no law and order situation in Pakistan and Judiciary has no saying in the operation of the governmental activities.  So one wonders the purpose of repeating the slogan of acquiring Kashmir.  Pakistan does not have the fiscal and military power along with the will of local Kashmiris to manage Kashmir.  It is, therefore an appropriate time for Pakistan to stop using Kashmir  as an excuse in the way of improving relations between India and Pakistan and rather divert its limited resources towards the welfare of its citizens viz-a-viz education, improvement of infrastructure and manufacturing operations.  ARE THE LEADERS OF PAKISTAN SENSIBLE ENOUGH TO THINK ABOUT THE WELFARE OF ITS CITIZENS, FAILING WHICH THE DOOMS DAY IS NOT TOO FAR FOR PAKISTAN.

It is a well known fact that the plight of non-Muslim minorities - Hindus, Christians and Sindis etc. in Pakistan is very sad, but to note a miserable treatment of Shites in Pakistan in the hands of Sunnis is equally shameful. The social and political trends being witnessed by the world in Pakistan lead one to infer that the country is gearing towards introducing laws promulgated in the Sharia.  Lack of enforcement of law, diminishing power of the judiciary, uncontrollable corruption, lack of education in general, poverty and insurmountable power in the hands of military/ISI and the jihadi groups are all symptoms of anarchy.  Needless to say that the minorities in Pakistan are the victims and this victimization is being enforced on  them by the petro dollars.  It is true that the civilized world is cognizant of this fact, but is turning a blind eye on the flow of petro dollars to perpetrate this victimization - either due to economic, political or diplomatic sensitiveness.  It may work in the short run, but in the long run if this merciless killing and torturing of minorities is not stopped by the Sunnis and jihadis, the civilized world will pay dearly at the end.  By not taking a note of this inhumane behavior, the world is strengthening the hands of militants not only in Pakistan but on a worldwide basis.  This writer holds the view that eventually these jihadis will become a time bomb waiting to be exploded in front of our eyes.  Is that the civilized world is waiting for?

It is very interesting that after four years the Pakistani Government has finally accepted the fact that it was Pakistan's land where the Pakistani militant groups trained, abetted, financed and monitored the activities of the perpetrators of 26/11 attack on Mumbai.  It is better late than never.  It is also true that both the governments are trying to make the process of issuance of visas as well as the trades little bit more easier and manageable than before.  But this writer has some apprehension about this whole process of so-called an effort of improving relations between India and Pakistan.  This exercise of ameliorating relationship is not new.  It has been attempted before via. Smjauta train and trade agreements, and we all know that the expected results were never seen.  So what new one can expect this time - nothing in my opinion.  While initiating these actions, Pakistan is trying to appease its own people due to an impending election.  These are simply diplomatic and political moves without any intended fruitful results.  Hence, the Indian Government needs to be very cautious while issuing visas and caving in on other issues.  As the world knows, the puppet government in Islamabad cann't function on its free will without getting a nod from the nexus of ISI/Military and the outlawed groups.  This writer holds a firm view that the Indian government ought not to extend an olive branch to Pakistan unless the latter initiates some sincere and concrete actions to eradicate terror menace from its territory.  A SHEER EXERCISE OF HOLDING THESE SUMMIT MEETINGS WITH THE HOPE THAT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INDIA AND PAKISTAN WILL IMPROVE IS A WASTE OF TIME, ENERGY AND RESOURCES WHICH CAN BE DIVERTED TOWARDS OTHER IMPORTANT DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN ISSUES.

It is very interesting to note that the authorities in Pakistan are showing some interest to educate their children including females.  But it is very unfortunate to note that it took almost a life of Malala for the Pakistan government to realize the importance of education for the females.  However, one has to keep an eye on the type and quality of education provided under a Waseela-e-Taleem in Pakistan.  The other thing to watch is how Pakistan controls the threat of Talibans who are openly threatening to attack anyone who supports educating the females.  In fact the attacker of Malala is still in hiding or should one say that he is being hidden with the connivance of Pakistani leaders.  In any case, it is shameful that he is still at large and has not been brought to justice.  Pakistan is not the only country where no importance or thought is attached to the females' education.  There are so many other Muslim countries where there is absolutely no government provision to educate them.  I am sure you all know what I am insinuating.  How come the world is sleeping on the fate of those females.  Is educating them not equally important?  Why is there a discrimination on this issue?  I think it is disgusting and shame on the part of civilized community to ignore the fate of rest of the uneducated females in the Muslim world.  EDUCATING FEMALES IS ONE OF THE DRIVING FORCES TO STRENGTHEN THE NATIONS' ECONOMIC POWER - EDUCATED FEMALES EDUCATE THE FAMILY AND EVENTUALLY THE NATION BECOMES EDUCATED.

The veil comment of Gen. Keyani towards the judiciary shows that the Pakistani civilian rule may have a short life.  The military outfit in Pakistan has been under a tremendous pressure since the time Osama Bin Laden has been killed.  The whole world is judging the military establishment in Pakistan as an incompetent organization and/or an organization with whose connivance Mr. OBL was able to live near the military neighborhood for years.  One can infer that Mr. Keyani's harsh attitude towards the judiciary is a sign of frustration to cover the failing of his military outfit.  As the elections in Pakistan are going to take place soon, one can also conclude that the military establishment does not want the civilian government to take place again, and by showing an aggressive attitude towards the judiciary, Mr. Keyani is paving the way to sit on the throne of Islamabad.  Mr. Keyani as well as the whole world knows that the civilian government in Islamabad is a puppet government playing on the tune of military establishment anyway.  Therefore, this writer's assessment may not be out of line if a dictatorship prevails in Pakistan in the near future.  IS PAKISTAN READY FOR REPEAT OF DICTATORSHIP WHICH MEANS NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH, MAY BE EXPANSION OF JIHADI ELEMENTS AND MISERABLE LIFE OF THE MINORITIES IN PAKISTAN?

An introduction of J-31 fighter in the Chinese arsenal is another indication that China is on the move to flex its muscles which ought to be taken very seriously by its neighboring countries in the East China and South China sea.  If one looks at the competitive nature of air force and military strength of the neighboring countries, one can infer that China does not need the stealth fighters to defeat those small countries.  Hence, China is gearing up to face the security forces of Japan and India - the two major competitive forces in the region.  Therefore, the development of these stealth fighters ought to be of serious concern to both India and Japan.  As we know, China has an insatiable territorial expansion desire to establish its hegemonic status in that part of the world, and there is an urgent need to counter balance that power vacuum.  Of course, China wants to settle the score with Japan on the disputed Islands issue along with establishing its territorial rights on the natural oil and gas resources in that part of the sea.  In addition, China sees India a major hurdle in its way to becoming a super power in that region.  It is true that India has lot of joint defense ventures going on with the technical know-how of Russia, but in the event of a major military escalation between China and India, one is not sure which way the Russian government will show its tilt.  Although it is not fair to presume anything conclusively predicated on hypothesis, but India ought to have a 'Plan B' in case Russia does not support India with full military might against China.  Since the USA is also interested in counter-balancing the power vacuum in that part of the world, it is an opportune time to join hands with the USA and Japan to thwart any major threat from China.  INDIA NEEDS TO BE PROACTIVE AND WATCHFUL OF ALL THE MILITARY MOVES OF CHINA.

All efforts to ameliorate bilateral relationship between India and Pakistan are worthy to be admired.  As the past experience guides us, India has done its part already in this matter; for example, starting the Samjauta train, bus service, making easier the visa process to  visit India etc.  However, India ought to be very careful in accepting the suggestion of a Pakistani leader to have a common currency.  As we all know, the Pakistani leaders in Islamabad has no say in these matters.  It is the Jihadis who control the governmental machinery in Pakistan.  Since the election is going to take place in Pakistan next year, these leaders are just making political gestures and statements to appease the public in Pakistan.  Jihadis in Pakistan are hell bent to destroy India and its economy.  Therefore, unless Pakistani government can eradicate that segment of its society, it is a futile exercise to expect any fruitful results from any type of dialogues between New Delhi and Islamabad.  India and Pakistan have been exchanging dialogues since 1947 without any positive outcome.  Hence, this writer is fully convinced and agrees with those leaders in India who do not like to waste time, energy and resources on these summit and diplomatic meetings.  INDIA NEED NOT TO CAVE IN AND GET TRAPPED IN THESE TYPE OF FICTITIOUS BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SUGGESTIONS.

Mr. Geelani is acting like he is the Chief Minister of the State of J & K., or at least he thinks that he is running a parallel government in the same State.  People like him believing in the separation rather rather than repairing the gaps in the understanding of people of the region need a severe blow to their selfish motive which is to gain political power by inciting people and representing the interest of the foes across the border.  Everybody understands the freedom of speech accorded under the democratic system, but when the tenets of very democracy are exploited to serve one's own selfish motive at the cost of national security, those voices ought to be controlled at the outset.  A very crystal clear sermon needs to be imparted to the so-called puppets of Pakistan residing in India to the effect that no anti-India behavior will be tolerated in the country.  Those who are Indian citizens living in India, they are Indians first; then they are Muslims, Sikhs and Tamils etc.   Mr. Geelani is voicing his opinion against the construction of a road to the Hindu religious shrine not because he is a lover of green environment, rather  he is evincing his anti-Hindu sentiments. This project is a good thought out project because it will eventually facilitate the journey of thousands of pilgrims visiting Lord Amarnath every year.  Mr. Geelani is threatening to demonstrate against this project which I believe is his right under the Indian constitution so long as it is a peaceful march.  The moment he starts inciting his rented people, there is a need at that time to arrest him and let him face the legal music.  Indian government has to become very clear and strong in taking harsh action against these type of traitors and puppets of foreign governments.  IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT INDIA SETS ASIDE THE IMAGE OF BEING A NOBEL AND PEACE LOVING COUNTRY AS FAR AS DEALING WITH THESE TYPE UNGRATEFUL AND FOREIGN AGENTS ARE CONCERNED.

It is true that India has a problem with the people across the border as far as violation of cease fire is concerned.  But I think that India's biggest problem resides inside India.  People like Geelani - I call them traitors - are the proponents of Kashmir issue.  It works in their favor by internationalizing this issue. Mr. Geelani is a pawn of Pakistan.  He eats in India, enjoy all luxuries provided by India to him, but he is so shameful that instead of safeguarding India's position, he is always singing pro-Pakistan slogans.  I am not that knowledgeable about the details of an Indian constitution.  But it is a shame to allow this type of free anti-India sentiments to flourish.  By not taking any corrective action by the Indian government, especially the local government, against this type of freedom is just like showing an acceptance of this behavior which in the long run will be proven to be very detrimental for the security of the country.  Yes, as the Chief Minister said, India has guns, cannons and other armaments, but you can use them only if there is an attack emanating from outside of India.  But how would one control the misguided ideology flourishing in India with these guns.  What Mr. Geelani's activities and behavior are doing is making the way more easier for the fanatics in Kashmir to turn against India.  IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT INDIA BECOMES PROACTIVE AND VIGILANT ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES AND SENTIMENTS EVINCED BY MR. GEELANI AND OTHERS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

'It is an utter shameful act perpetrated by the Talibans. They are branding 14 years old girl as 'spy of the West'. How ignorant and brainwashed one can be. Thanks God, Talibans are not holding any official position in the Pakistani government yet. Just imagine what they are capable of doing if they sit on the thrown of Islamabad. They would not hesitate for a second to push the nuclear button against all non-Muslims. It is equally shameful on the part of leaders of Pakistan not to raise their voice against this heinous act. Just for the sake of formality, they have arrested couple of people to appease the junta. But this acquiescence on the part of Pakistani leaders is going to be proven very harmful for the nation as a whole. The only fault that little girl had to propagate the availability of education to the children, including females. This little girl, and I rather call her a pioneer, had lot of dreams for her sisters in the nation and wanted to become a doctor, politician or what not. But the brainwashed community could not just digest it and tried to ruin or kill her dreams. Luckily, the girl survived and one can only hope that her dreams are fulfilled. But as far as Pakistan is concerned, the country is doomed to fail in the hands of these misguided fanatics. IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT THE CIVILIZED NATIONS OF THE WORLD REALIZE THIS DANGER WHICH CAN SPREAD TO OTHER MUSLIM NATIONS FASTER IF NO REMEDIAL ACTION IS TAKEN.''

The radicalized Sikhs and Muslims in the soft and liberal democratic countries in Europe, Canada and the USA are taking advantage of the democratic tenets of democracy.  The leaders of Sikhs and Muslims lure the younger generation towards the achievement of their misguided goals, and unfortunately, the younger generation eventually becomes the victim in the sense that these leaders turn the youngsters as walking bombs or killers.  A recent example is an attack on Lt. Gen Brar in the streets of London.  Some brainwashed Sikhs propagating the cause of Khalistan stabbed Mr. Brar.  These fanatic leaders openly raise slogans against the respective governments all over Europe and due to the soft democratic laws in European countries, the government officials cann't do anything except to watch their demonstrations and destruction of property.  It is about time that the European countries re-examine the democratic rules towards these fanatics and punish them severely as soon.as they violate any law of the land.  Most of these fanatic Muslims and Sikhs get support from Pakistan's ISI/Military nexus, and one may not be out of line to say that all aids going to Pakistan ought to be stopped immediately.  EARLIER THE EUROPEAN LEADERS REALIZE THIS TERROR MENACE WHICH IS GROWING BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS, THE BETTER OFF THE POLITICAL STABILITY OF EUROPE WILL BE.

Many a times, it has been proven that the leaders of Pakistan government are not reliable. They always play games to keep the cash flow intact from the USA. Pakistan has been dependent upon the US aid since its birth which in my opinion is a big hindrance to its development and prosperity. Pakistan always had a sense of complacence to come to Washington with a begging bowl and go back with a bowl full of financial and economic aid which in turn means that they did not have to work to improve country's infrastructure, education, manufacturing operations and other human needs. Had that money been diverted to uplift the standard of living of the people in the country, fixing the infrastructure and improving the educational system, Pakistan would have a different standing in the world forum. Unfortunately, all that aid of billions of dollars have gone into the pockets of a few at the cost of welfare of people. America can give many more billions of dollars- which they do not have to start with - but it will not change an attitude of Pakistani leaders who have been accustomed to freebees. When the NATO and US forces leave Afghanistan in 2014, one will see Pakistan playing a very visible role in creating chaotic situation in that country with a full support to the Talibans and other proxies. Their intention is to gain control of that territory and diminish the strength of India which is right now providing lot of economic assistance to Afghan government. It will happen for two reasons; one because the Karzai government is inept, greedy and corrupt and secondly, a weak Afghan armed forces to protect their territory. IT IS, THEREFORE UTMOST IMPORTANT FOR THE USA TO MAINTAIN SPECIAL OPERATION FORCES IN AFGHANISTAN TO KEEP AN EYE ON PAKISTAN'S BEHAVIOR.

France, like many other countries in the world, is also a victim of terrorist attacks.  Innocent people are being killed so frequently and mercilessly which is beyond sober man's imagination.  It is true, France has taken a few bold steps to streamline way of living of Muslims in the country, but the problem is not whether they wear hijab or burka, the problem lies with their ideology.  When it comes to Islam, all Muslims - moderate, fanatics, mullahs and ordinary people in the street - behave the same way which is to kill non-Muslims and destroy public property to prove their point. This in the long run is going to be devastating for France.  The way Muslim population in France, or should I say in whole Europe, is increasing the time is not too far when the French in France will be a minority.  Muslim voting bank will be so powerful and forceful that the French will be forced to cede power to the Muslims and watch the show while sitting on the side.  Is it what the French government is waiting for to see?  There is only one way to save the country and that is to deport all illegal Muslims to their respective countries and make it mandatory for the rest to follow the law of the land - zero tolerance for Sharia Law and fanaticism.  HOWEVER, IT REQUIRES LEADERS WITH A STRONG SPINE AND DETERMINATION TO SAVE THE COUNTRY.

The UK government is doing a good job in arresting those suspects who may have been involved in the attack on Mr. Brar on September 30, 2012.  It is shameful that the Khalistan sympathisers are still holding their grudges against a military officer who was just following his superior's orders which is what he is supposed to do as a military personnel.  Mr. Brar did not just walk into the Golden Temple complex with his soldiers to attack people.  The situation created by the terrorists - so called Khalistan supporters - in the Temple warranted that action to maintain peace and security in the country.  Needless to say, Golden Temple is a very sacrosanct place in which not only the Sikh community but people from other religions also have their faith placed in.  Thousands and thousands of worshipers frequent that complex on a daily basis to seek solace.  The Temple being the religious place does not have any place or need any guns and other destructive material on the complex.  So the very fact that the Khalistan supporters or should one say terrorists accumulated guns and other ammunition in that complex with the consent of Management of the Temple to defend their case basically desecrated the sanctity of that holy complex.  It is also shameful that the Management of the Temple has still not condemned the attack on Mr. Brar.  It shows only one thing that the Management of the Temple is still in favor of establishing Khalistan and providing covert assistance to the proponents of this cause.  INDIAN GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT TAKE KHALISTAN ISSUE THAT LIGHTLY BECAUSE THIS ISSUE IS STILL ALIVE WITH THE COVERT SUPPORT COMING FROM DIFFERENT GROUPS - PAKISTAN AND SIKHS RESIDING OVERSEAS SUPPORTING THIS CAUSE.
It took a little longer time for the UK judiciary to come to a final conclusion to extradite Mr. Al-Masri to the United States to face legal charges.  But as they say, 'better late than never'.  Kudos for the UK judiciary for the right decision.  If one looks at the immigrant population in the UK, one finds many duplicate copies of Mr. Al-Masri who have very fanatic views predicated on their respective religious brainwashing and beliefs.  A recent attack by some people from the Sikh community on Mr. Brar on September 30, 2012 is another example of fanaticism.  There is no dearth of these cases.  UK being a soft democratic country is being exploited by these radical groups, and they openly preach slogans against the government which, if not controlled by the government, will be a proven nail in the coffin of UK's establishment.  Is that what the UK government is waiting for before these mouthpieces are silenced?  These people are not friends of UK, not productive for the country and have no respect for human lives and ought to be shown the exit door.  The first step in this direction should be to re-examine their immigration policy and deport all immigrants to their respective countries who do not have  legal documents.  This is applicable to everyone irrespective of his religion, faith, age, sex etc.  It is a bitter pill to swallow, but is needed urgently for survival for the country.  HOWEVER, THIS ACTION NEEDS LEADERS WITH A STRONG SPINE AND DETERMINATION TO KEEP THE COUNTRY IN SAFER HANDS.

It is about time that both the Indian and American defense establishments are contemplating joining hands in the transfer of defense technology to India and work together to manufacture mutually beneficial equipments to thwart any future challenges posed by China in that part of the world.   Needless to say, China is flexing its muscles to fulfill its insatiable territorial expansion appetite and posing an open threats to the neighboring countries on a daily basis.  It is challenging the movement of ships of other countries in the South China sea, objecting to the drilling of oil by the Indian company as well as threatening the fishing boats of neighboring countries.  China's tussle with Japan over the occupation of Islands is of an utmost concern too.  All neighboring countries, except may be India, are scared of China.  Hence, the presence of American influence in that part of the world will discourage China to be belligerent.  India, of course, already being the beneficiary of Russian defense technology, will strengthen its military might second to none coupled with the American technology.  It is a win-win situation for India.  IN VIEW OF CONTAINING CHINA, THIS THOUGHT PROCESS ON THE PART OF INDIAN AND AMERICAN GOVERNMENTS NEEDS TO BE APPLAUDED

Mr. Ramdev said that any one can form his own 'party' in a minute but the key is how many people will follow that party.  I think the problem is not with the number of followers, but the easiness to form a party.  Right now, India's main problem is that there are too many parties.  Actually, the number has grown so big that it is becoming unmanageable.  This is one of the reasons that the followers get split and no one party has the majority to run the government.  They have to depend upon others and serve the country on coalition basis.  Any time the interest of any of the serving party is not served to its liking, it pulls the support and disturb the stability of the government which many times lead to 'no confidence motion' and eventually a mid-term elections.  This unstable political scenario is not a healthy tonic to attract foreign investment either let alone managing the internal affairs of a nation.  To overcome this problem, India needs to amend its constitution and make it mandatory that there will not be more than three parties in the whole country and let the existing MPs join any of those parties with its own leader and agenda.  It will avoid the dilution of membership and provide a chance to one party to come out as a majority party to run the country.  IT, HOWEVER, NEEDS LEADERS WITH A STRONG SPINE TO VOICE SUCH OPINION AND INITIATE THIS ACTION

Israel is in a fix right now.  If it allows Iran to go ahead with the nuclear bomb, one ought not to doubt that Iran will supply this bomb to its proxies all over the world to attack Jewish interests.  It really does not matter whether it emanates from Lebanon, Syria or anywhere else.  The idea behind this ideology will be not to have Iranian's direct finger prints on those attacks.  Knowing what the whole world knows about Iranian regime's views about Israel, Iran will do all it can to push Israel into the sea.  This indeed will ask for Israel's retaliatoary attack, may be a nuclear response, which will ensue unimaginable devastation of human lives and destruction of property.  However, if Israel initiates a preemptive attack on Iran, as some perceive may happen, it will indeed may lead to WW III which, needless to say, will bring a destruction of mankind and property to a greater magnitude.  In either case, this writer can see Middle East burning with lot of devastation, misery and destruction of property.  One can only hope that prudence will take precedence on any ill-advised action to avoid this so-called perceived destruction   TIME IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE WESTERN NATIONS TO RESOLVE THIS TENSION BETWEEN ISRAEL AND IRAN.

Looking at the daily ongoing killings and destruction of property in Pakistan, one ought not to hesitate to agree with what Mr. Tufail Ahmed is stating in his study about Pakistan.   He is correct in urging the world to declare Pakistan as a state of genocide.  The plight of minorities in Pakistan is worse than second class citizens, the mental and physical torture perpetrated on them is beyond belief, the humiliation and low self-respect they have to endure is inhumane.  Slowly and slowly, Pakistan is turning the clock backward and becoming a caliphate state, a state where torture, cruelty and stone-age way of life will prevail.  Unfortunately, the moderate literate class in Pakistan is mute and witnessing this scenario without any emotions evinced.  I do not know the basis of Mr. Ahmad's analysis, but I think these are, among others, a few factors for the downfall of Pakistan and they are, the puppet government in Islamabad which does not want to control the militants, lame duck press and media, disrespect of judiciary and an open-ended authority and power accorded to the nexus of ISI and military.  The illiteracy rate cann't be ignored either when it comes to elections.  Since 1947, Pakistan has been controlled by military, zamidars, feudals and landlords whose main aim has been to rule people with suppression.  If one looks around, it is not only in Pakistan but in all Muslim countries, the ideology of repression is adopted to rule the public- keep them illiterate and let them live under the domination of powerful.  NOW THE BALL IS IN THE COURT OF WORLDWIDE CIVILIZED COMMUNITY TO TACKLE THIS PITIFUL SITUATION IN PAKISTAN BEFORE IT BECOMES UNMANAGEABLE.

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

It appears from Mr. Zardai's statement at the United Nations that the world should not expect any additional efforts from the Pakistani government towards containing the terrorist activities of  militant groups in his country.  One can clearly infer from his statement that it is a signal to the United States and India.  Both countries are the victims of terror menace emanating from Pakistan.  Mr. Zardari in a way is shifting the burden of eliminating terror to the rest of the world.  One wonders if Mr. Zardari and his so called strong army are really incapable of controlling these militant groups or is it just a cop out of not touching the militant groups in Pakistan.  The former plea does not sit well with the writer because Pakistan claims to defeat India if there is another war even though India seems to have a superior conventional power.  Predicated on this premise, Pakistani army can easily defeat and eradicate the militant groups equipped with antiquated equipments.  But it definitely shows that Pakistan has full confidence in its military might.  Hence, it is evident that Pakistan wants to keep the militancy alive in Pakistan to use it against Afghanistan and India, and also to milk the western nations, especially the USA to keep the cash flow intact.  Therefore, what Mr. Zardari said in his speech at the UN is an intentional cop out.  However, what the USA ought to do is to monitor the aid going to Pakistan and make sure that even if some aid has to be sent to Pakistan, it has a long list of strings attached.  NEEDLESS TO SAY, SINCE USA's OWN FISCAL SITUATION IS NOT THAT GREAT, WE SHOULD TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN NEEDS FIRST.

When I read Mr. Bilour's statement, who is a head of the Railway Ministry, asking for help from the Taliban and Al-Queda members to help kill a person who made this anti-Islam film, it raised a red flag in my mind.  He is offering $100,000 as a bounty to kill the film maker.  For a minute, he forgot that these are the same militant groups who killed lot of his party leaders.  Mr. Bilour is so much brain washed with the idea of Islamisation that he, being a representative of the Pakistani government, does not care who he is begging to achieve his misguided goal.  The other interesting point is that there is no voice being heard from the officials in Islamabad against this bounty.  One can clearly come to the conclusion that all leaders in Pakistan are ill advised, brain washed and cann't see outside a box of Islamisation.  With this scenario in mind, the civilized world ought not to expect any good coming out of Pakistan, and it is about time that the whole civilized community segregates Pakistan and stop all kinds of financial assistance. Pakistan is a rogue state, a failed economy and the country is run by Mullahs who don't care about a common man.  THIS PUTS A SPECIAL BURDEN AND RESPONSIBILITY ON THE USA TO STOP ALL AID TO PAKISTAN RIGHT AWAY.
This so-called anti-Islam film is creating a havoc in all Muslim countries.  But it is so strange and inconceivable to see the amount of destruction, killing and mental anguish these Muslims are orchestrating in their respective countries without even realizing that they are killing their own men, women and innocent children, destroying their own country's property along with putting their own economy on the back burners.  Do they really love Prophet Mohammed so much that they are willing to perpetrate this large scale killing and destruction of property or are they just misguided people by the Mullahs who are out there to exploit these illiterate Muslim community to serve their own interest of Islamisation.  If one understands Islam in a true sense, the message Islam conveys is of peace and love and it further states that even if someone hates you, you ought to forgive and forget him.  If that is true, then these Muslims running in the streets killing their brothers and sisters and destroying their own property really do not love Prophet Mohammed, and the only conclusion left is that they are misguided people who do not even realize that they are being exploited by the Mullahs.  It is an opportune time for the moderate Muslim community worldwide to stand up to these Mullahs who have hijacked Islam and inculcating 6th century philosophy of Islam into the Muslim youths.  This will only push the Muslim countries towards the stone age when the rest of the world will be pushing forward with all the technological achievements.  DO MUSLIM NATIONS WANT TO GO BACKWARD OR FORWARD- DECISION IS YOURS?

This incident is another example of Jihadis being over powering every aspect of life of Pakistani people.  Mr. Ansari and his legally wedded wife were not allowed to sit side by side in a McDonald restaurant to enjoy their food because, according to McDonald Pakistan's policy, it leaves a bad impression for the rest of public eating at a public place.   This is what they were told.  However, they could sit there facing each other.  One wonders if it is really a McDonald Pakistan policy or the policy dictated by the militant groups.  There has been no comment so far from the McDonald USA, and I don't think there will be one.  But this definitely forces one to wonder the extent of penetration of the jihadi element into a common man's life.  Are the militant groups trying to turn Pakistan into a caliphate state slowly and slowly which will be guided by the Sharia Law?  Mr. Ansari has shown his frustration in his blog and majority of people after reading his blog disapproved the treatment met by the couple at McDonald restaurant.  But that is not enough.  If people in Pakistan want to eliminate this type of unnecessary interference in public life, they have to voice their opinion openly and publicly.  A note of protest ought to be sent to the McDonald Corporation in Pakistan as well as in the USA to address this issue.  Other US food chains should take a serious note of this type of incident because this incident can set precedence for other restaurants also which will adversely affect their revenues.  ONE WONDERS WHAT IS PAKISTANI GOVERNMENT'S REACTION TO THIS INCIDENT?

China by flexing its muscles is showing the extent of its frustration about the newly purchased property by the Japanese government.  China sent a few ships with the military might to monitor the territory.  This sounds like a baseless and futile exercise on the part of China.  Japanese now own these islands and it is up to them as to how to manage this newly acquired property and China, accordingly, has no business to enter into the now owned Japanese waters.  Even though the neighboring as well as western countries are trying to convince China to avoid this unnecessary interference and scuffle, but it seems like China is playing deaf and dumb.  It simply evinces China's hegemonic posture in order to quench its thirst for territorial expansion.  Knowing the military might China possesses, the neighboring countries on their own are no match to face China militarily.  Hence, China is so aggressive in its attitude in that part of the world.  Unless China is stopped behaving like this, it can lead to catastrophic situation.  If that happens, one can see that it will flare up to not only the neighboring countries of China, but will engulf adjacent countries into it as well.  The question now in front of rest of the world is to find a solution -military or political - to stop this uncontrollable monster before it is too late.  THE BURDEN IS ON THE SHOULDERS OF THE USA, EUROPE, SOVIET UNION AND MAY BE INDIA TOO TO INITIATE STEPS TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE PEACEFULLY.

The trilateral dialogue being discussed among China, India and Pakistan on the issue of Afghanistan is a step in the right direction to stabilize the region.  However, the way Chinese are investing in Afghanistan needs a detailed scrutiny for various reasons.  Chinese are signing contract with the Afghanistan government for natural resources which they need badly for their economy whereas India is aiding Afghanistan in building roads, hospitals and schools which has very less long term contribution to India's economic growth.  China's investment in the Afghanistan's resources will provide them a strong foothold in that country. After the NATO/USA forces are withdrawn in 2014, India will be left alone to handle its interest in Afghanistan especially after knowing that China has very close military ties with Pakistan.  The roads India is building today will be used by China and Pakistan to serve their interest.  Therefore, even though the arrangement of the trilateral dialogues is a positive step, but it seems that it is part of Chinese long term strategy to encircle India and eventually reduce India's influence in the region.  INDIA NEEDS TO BE PROACTIVE AND VERY VIGILANT WHILE DEALING WITH THE CHINESE.

The agreement or implied understanding formalized between India and China during the visit of Chinese Defense Minister sounds like putting a band aid on a wound which is profusely bleeding. This non-curable wound relates to what happened in 1962. One is not sure about the preamble of this agreement which refers to the intent that India and China will work together to maintain peace in the South Pacific region. What does it actually mean? Does it mean that Indian ONGC can continue to drill in the South China Sea unfettered and its naval forces can move with impunity? Or does it mean that China has become the best friend of India and is willing to show the same type of cooperation and understanding in other regions which are under dispute with China? India ought not to forget that China works on a long range vision and their international policy is predicated on 'pick and chose' basis. China has realized that its relationships with the neighboring countries around the South China Sea are deteriorating, it has become a thorn in the eyes of the USA and the close proximity of India to the USA make China feels segregated. Hence, China is endeavoring to show some friendly gestures to India. But be aware that these maneuvers are like chess-game moves which usually are very opaque. Like in chess-game, unless you are thinking a step ahead of your opponent, you are bound to lose the game. Therefore, India needs to be very vigilant and before getting into any Chinese trap, a thorough probe of Chinese moves is warranted. INDIA SHOULD NOT FORGET WHAT HAPPENED IN 1962 - AN ATTACK BY THE CHINESE FORCES AFTER EMPHASIZING THE SLOGAN OF 'HINDI-CHINI BHAI BHAI
The meeting being arranged between the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan is another futile attempt to solve unsolvable issues between India and Pakistan. Ms. Khar, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, states that India should forget terrorism because it is in the past and India should move ahead thinking on the issue of terrorism 'realistically'. I am not sure what 'realistically' here means. Does it mean that India should forget the innocent lives lost in the Mumbai attack or should India not worry about the support of the Pakistani government to the militants in Pakistan who were responsible to plan, arrange, finance and orchestrate the 26/11 attack or should India ignore the inaction of the Pakistani government to bring the known and proven culprits to books. What does it mean - may be Ms. Khar can elaborate on it? Exchange of dialogues is a good way between two parties to resolve their outstanding issues. But the solutions to problems can be found only if there is a sincere seriousness on both sides. Since, for selfish reasons. the militant groups who are controlling the government in Islamabad do not want any improvement in relations between India and Pakistan, how can Ms. Khar or for that matter any other officials come to the negotiating table with 'no authority' to achieve this goal- impossible. All the time, the basic ingredients - authority and seriousness - have been lacking on the part of Pakistani delegation. Hence, no solutions to common problems have been found since 1947. Is it not a waste of time, effort and resources? INDIA OUGHT TO SWITCH GEAR AND CONCENTRATE ON OTHER DOMESTIC ISSUES INSTEAD.

It is true that the Kashmir has been a bone of contention between India and Pakistan since 1947.  It is also true that since then lot of summit meetings have taken place to find a viable solution to this riddle, but of no concrete outcome.  One wonders as to how many more efforts have to be made and how many more resources have to be devoted to this convoluted issue.  I compare this issue with what Jews and Palestine people have between themselves - a built-in ill will and hatred for each other- an issue whose roots have been poisoned with a heavy doze of pesticides.  Hence, one ought not to expect any fruitful results from these diplomatic meetings - these meetings are just an eye wash.  I also don't think Pakistan really wants to solve this issue.  Pakistan just wants to keep this issue alive so that a chaotic situation in the Indian occupied Kashmir prevails all the time.  The reason being that, in addition to other headaches in the country, Pakistan is not in a position to manage this additional territory fiscally and militarily.  Pakistan, in 1971, lost half the country, now Bangladesh, it is on the verge of losing Balochistan, Karachi is burning everyday and the whole Panjab situation is beyond government control.  Therefore, in my opinion, further discussion on this topic is a futile exercise and wastage of energy and resources.  However, there are two ways to solve the Kashmir enigma; one both parties accept the LOC as an international border and the other one is with a full fledged war and the winner take all.  INDIAN GOVERNMENT OUGHT TO PUT KASHMIR ISSUE ON THE BACK BURNER.

The Pakistani text books used in the schools of Panjab and Sindh Provinces consist of hatred contents towards non-Muslims - Christians, Hindus and Sikhs.  It is sad to know that the respective governments in these Provinces have no objection to this type of teachings in the schools.  Since there is no voice aired against the syllabus of these books by the leaders in Islamabad, one can conclude that it has their blessings also.  It also shows that the militants and misguided people in Pakistan are running the show and the government at the center is just a puppet government.  Under these circumstances, one cann't expect any secular treatment to non-Muslims in Pakistan.  The moderate and educated community in Pakistan is also mute on this issue.  The only choice the victims have is to either stand up against the wrong propaganda and  ill treatment or go to some other places where they are treated like human beings.  CIVILIZED WORLD NEEDS TO PRESSURE PAKISTAN TO MEND ITS BEHAVIOR SOONER THAN LATER.

This story is another example of how stoop Muslims can go to tarnish the image of non-Muslims in Pakistan.  A teenager non-Muslim girl who is medically declared as incapable of doing such things was charged with a crime of burning the Koran in Pakistan.  She was arrested and put behind bar.  As luck would have it, the cleric who actually placed the Koran pages in the fire to frame this girl and get rid of Christians in his neighborhood was caught doing this heinous act by his friend who came forward and got this mischievous cleric arrested.  First of all, in my opinion, this cleric has no spiritual knowledge of Islam or any other religion.  Islam, like other religions,  teaches love and affection for others.  Those who have even an iota of spiritual background would not dare to do such an act.  This incident also proves that there is something wrong with the criterion of selecting these clerics.  When these clerics themselves are misguided how can one expect them to impart spiritual discourses predicated on true Islam.  Secondly, the world did not hear any voice from the Muslim countries, including Pakistan, against this insane act.  One wonders where are the Mullahs, Imams and the rest of the moderate Muslim community?  Are they playing deaf and dumb?  Their silence on this subject conveys only one message to the civilized society and i.e. that this act has their blessings too.  What a shame?  One also wonders had there been a Muslim girl treated the same way by either Christians, Hindus or Jews priest, what type of hue and cry the whole civilized world would have witnessed - not to talk of destruction of public property.  One can easily conclude that the Muslim community is leading a double-faced life and now it is up to the non-Muslims to act accordingly.  IS THE CIVILIZED NON-MUSLIM WORLD LISTENING?

It is sad to note what happened to a 4-year old child.  She is a rape victim and the illiterate Panchayat leaders are further victimizing her by putting all sort of stops towards her education.  She is not allowed to join her school under the pretext that she will be a bad example for the rest of students in that school.  There has to be a limit of myopic thoughts and lack of common sense.  Instead of evincing some type of empathy for a poor victim, she is being tortured more by the illiterate Panchayat leaders.  Good news is that the governmental authorities are looking into it and will bring the culprits to face a legal music.  In order to avoid this type of any future Panchayats' unacceptable decision, it is required that the criterion of electing Panchayat's leaders is looked into.  These leaders need to have some kind of basic academic education along with a close supervision by a governmental authority.  BEFORE   PANCHAYAT'S DECISION ARE IMPLEMENTED, THEY NEED APPROVAL OF A SUPERVISOR.

China considers and has declared Arunachal Pradesh - an Indian territory - as part of China.  As the whole world knows, China is forcefully occupying Tibet since 1959 and now it has labeled Arunachal Pradesh as 'southern Tibet'.  China has been occupying Leh/Siachin area -again an Indian territory - since 1962.  China has installed a Maoist government in Nepal, the northern border of India.  Needless to say, China is like hands in gloves with Pakistan and providing all sorts of fiscal, military and technical help.  For the brevity of this situation, one can conclude that China's aspiration of territorial expansion is insatiable.  It appears that Chinese Defense Minister will be visiting India soon to show a gesture of tightening military ties between the two countries which sounds very ironical because on the one hand they are aggressively flexing their muscles to grab Indian territory while on the other hand they are trying to show their soft side by arranging friendly visits to India.  Before India gets into any deal, Chinese moves need lot of probing and thorough analysis.  India ought not to forget what happened in 1962.  India should not yield to any Chinese pressure and sign any agreement unless China first signs MoU to leave the Indian occupied territory- Leh/Siachin area and Arunachal Pradesh - along with the territory of a separate sovereign country -Tibet.  INDIA BE AWARE OF CHINESE CHESS-LIKE MOVES.

China's Defense Minister is visiting India to discuss military ties and outstanding issues between India and China.  It is a good idea to have open dialogues on all territorial issues because exchange of dialogues is the only way to have a long term peaceful agreement and environment in which both countries can live.  War cann't solve the territorial issues.  However, the question right now is the 'timing'.  Why China is interested in having these dialogues?  If one evaluates China's relationship with the countries around South China Sea, one leads to only one conclusion and i.e. that China feels being isolated in that part of the world.  Also, of course, one ought not to under estimate the close ties which are in the works between India and the USA.  A feel of being isolated and close ties between India and the USA are the main concern of China because they are directly affecting the hegemonic and territorial aspirations of China.  India should not forget what China did in 1962.  Right after Chou-en-lai's -then Prime Minister of China -visit to India and a loud slogans of 'Hindi-Chini-Bhai-Bhai', China attacked India and rest is a history which everyone is aware of.  China is playing a chess-game, and it is in the interest of India to make sure that its 'KING' (territorial integrity and security of India) is protected before arriving at any conclusion and agreement with China.  INDIA NEEDS TO BE VIGILANT OF CHINESE MOVES.
